After getting news about being appointed to the Advisory Committee on Orthotics and Prosthetics, I decided to figure up all the various 'amputee related' stuff I've done since Dec 2003:
- Rode a bicycle from OKC to Dallas in two days for an amputee awareness project (100 miles each day)
- Spoke and/or hosted round-tables at three international medical symposiums
- Delivered key-note message at national convention in Chicago
- 'Guest Lectured' to over 350+ physical therapy students
- 'Guest Lectured' to over 50 orthopedic surgical residents
- Certified Peer Visitor for Amputee Coalition of America
- 'Peer Visited' (mentored, whatever you want to call it) 175+ amputees or soon to be amputees (one on one visits, not group settings)
- Three 'peer visits' with new amputees (or soon to be) while in Mexico on Mission Trips
- Redirected at least 10 patients from questionable care providers to one of the top ortho surgeons in the nation
- Assisted as a "product demonstrator" for prosthetic manufacturer
- Traveled with my 'Leg Guy' to be a test patient when he was getting trained on new socket suspension option
- Assisted as a "patient model" for numerous prosthetic related scientific studies
- Spent time as a Board of Director member for an internationally recognized amputee-related 503c1 Foundation
- Consumer Reviewer on multiple panels within the CDMRP (Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program)
- Member on the Advisory Committee on Orthotics and Prosthetics for the Oklahoma Medical Board
